We Stayed At The Rio For A Night… This Is What It’s Like In 2024!

Most people would cringe at the thought of staying at The Rio anytime after its prime. Growing up in Las Vegas, this casino holds a lot of special memories for me. From the amazing buffet (RIP) to the Carnival in the Sky show (also RIP). Many people also recall the VooDoo lounge nightclub (now a steakhouse) and it being a prime location in the 2000’s.

With new ownership, refurbishments, and crazy low hotel rates we decided to stay there for a night since we had a convention we were attending on property. Here’s how it went.

We got a panorama suite for around $300. The suite was huge and we were able to check in at a special VIP room instead of waiting in line at the normal bell desk. It’s a 1600 square foot suite with a guest bathroom, massive master bathroom/jacuzzi tub, living area with convertible couch, small kitchenette, 8 person dining table, and floor to ceiling views of the entire strip. Check out the room tour here

We also got a pool cabana for about $200 on one of their three pools. The service was excellent and it came with free sparkling/still water with no minimum spend for the whole day.

The hotel is definitely on its way up. Rooms were clean, but bathrooms were still a little outdated. (Our room wasn’t one of the newly renovated ones). You can’t beat the views! There is no room service, but plenty of restaurants you can order take out from.

All in all this hotel has seen better days, but it’s far from the ghost town it’s been the past five years! Lots of construction still going on, and plenty of shops still open. If you’re looking for an affordable suite with plenty of photo ops (and don’t mind being about a mile from the strip) this is not a bad choice!
